1、擴大閱讀視野　

　　所謂閱讀視野是指眼睛在“凝視”的瞬間所能接收或覆蓋的印刷符號。普通讀者眼睛停頓時可接收兩個英語單詞，閱讀能力強的讀者一眼可以看四個左右的單詞，但能力差的讀者一眼只能接收一個或者不到一個的單詞。因此，在相等的閱讀時間裡，視野狹窄的讀者所看到的單詞要少得多，如果再經常復視，讀速肯定快不了。　

　　我們閱讀時應該特別注意詞的整體性，要把注意力放在句子中較大的單位上，而不要放在一個個孤立的單詞上。例如，下面的句子可以分成三個詞群，Most paragraphs/ have a topic sentence/ which expresses the central idea.我們不妨將它們作為三個相對獨立的整體看待，閱讀時，眼睛只要停頓三次而不是十次。　

2、用英語思考　

　　在閱讀時，不必把英文翻譯成中文，否則將大大地降低閱讀速度，從而影響對閱讀材料的全面理解。　

3、注意預讀　

　　預讀是每個讀者必須掌握的一項基本閱讀技巧。在我們正式閱讀一本書之前，首先應該通過預讀粗略地估計一下該書寫的是什麼內容。書籍預讀主要包括以下七個方面(1)思考標題的含義(2)速讀作者姓名與書籍出版日期(3)看看封面或書中的照片或插圖(4)速讀目錄內容(5)瀏覽索引或附錄(6)速讀作者簡介以及前言(7)瀏覽書尾的參考書目。　

　　短篇文章預讀要相對地簡單一些。它主要包括閱讀標題、作者姓名以及照片和插圖。有些讀者不知道預讀的重要性，或者覺得它是浪費時間。特別是在做閱讀與理解測試題時，時間一緊，他們就忽略預讀，捧起文章就埋頭看正文。由於跳過了預讀這一重要環節，他們的閱讀在相當長的時間內是在盲目的探索中進行的。　

4、增強猜詞能力　

　　看文章經常會遇到一些生詞。這時，我們不要急於查詞典，許多生詞的意義都可以猜出來。查詞典不但會減慢讀速，而且會打斷讀者的思路，降低閱讀？ 省？猜詞義的方法多種多樣。最常用的是根據上下文猜測生詞的含義。另外我們還可以根據構詞法(如前綴、后攝)，同義詞、反義詞等揣摸某些生詞的意思。當然，有不少生詞(特別是一些抽象名詞)的意思是很難猜出來的。如果它們對理解文章內容無多大妨礙，我們完全可以跳過它，不要把精力過分地放在猜詞義上。只見樹木而不見樹林的閱讀方法是不可取的。　

二、不良的閱讀習慣　

1.音讀　

　　出聲閱讀的主要弊病就是使閱讀速度和效率受說話速度的限制。因為，正常默讀速度幾乎要比出聲朗讀的速度快兩倍以上。嘴唇的活動無疑會影響眼睛的掃視速度，"一個有效率的讀者能夠只要看到印刷符號，就直接獲得意思，而不經過聲音階段。"因此，要克服這種不良的閱讀習慣，就要訓練自己養成通過視覺器官直接感知文字符號的視讀能力。

2.心讀　

　　心讀是一種很難觀察到的閱讀習慣。心讀時，人體的任何部位，不論嘴、頭或聲帶都沒有動，只存在一種說話的內在形式：學生在內心裡始終自言自語，清晰地發出並聽着每個字音。這種毛病直接影響到閱讀的速度和效率，並且矯正起來又比較困難。強制自己加快閱讀速度的方法一般能逐漸克服這種壞習慣。

3.指讀　

　　指讀是指用手指、鉛筆或尺子等指着一個個詞進行閱讀的習慣。這種指讀的單純機械運用不僅會減慢閱讀速度，而且還會把我們的注意力引向錯誤的方向。一個高效率的閱讀者不會注意單詞的位置，也不會在每個單詞上平均花費時間，而是把注意力集中在作者要闡明的思想內容上。　

4.復視　

　　復視指的是讀完一個句子或段落後回過頭去重複閱讀。閱讀能力差的朋友往往過分依賴於復視以養成一種習慣。改變這種不良習慣的辦法就是讓自己閱讀大量難度適宜的讀物，這樣就不會因遇到生詞或不太懂的短語、句子或段落而回過頭來再看，以至養成復視的習慣。　

5.頭的擺動　

　　閱讀時頭部下意識地左右擺動是閱讀的另一壞習慣。在閱讀過程中，有些人往往盡量使自己的鼻尖對準他正在讀的每一個字。這種頭的擺動，學生往往意識不到，而正是這種不必要的動作往往對閱讀速度產生影響。因此，必須克服這種毛病，養成閱讀時只移動視線的習慣。
